Frequently asked questions about gold earrings
Choosing earrings
Studs and smaller hoops are the easiest to wear daily. They sit close to the ear, don't catch on hair or clothing, and most people can keep them in around the clock.
With studs, usually yes. Drop earrings and larger hoops are better taken off, both for your sake and the jewelry's.
Hoops are round, ring-shaped earrings. They range from small, thin styles that barely show to wider rings that become the thing people notice.
Gold and materials
Yes, every pair in this collection is solid 18k gold, not plated. The whole piece is gold, not just the surface.
18 karat means 75 percent of the metal is pure gold. Pure gold is too soft to wear daily, so it's mixed with other metals to make it stronger.
Most people tolerate solid 18k gold well, since it contains little of the metals that usually cause reactions. If you're very sensitive, it's still worth starting carefully.
Care
Water won't damage gold. Chlorinated water, seawater and sweat can wear the surface over time though, especially on earrings with pearls or set stones.
Lukewarm water, a few drops of washing-up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Just wipe pearls.
