Frequently asked questions about gold necklaces
Choosing a necklace
It depends on how you want to wear it. A shorter necklace sits high at the base of the throat and works well on its own or under a sweater. A longer one falls further down and shows better over clothing. If you're layering, different lengths are the key.
Yes, and it's a common way to wear them. Choose different lengths and ideally different chain thicknesses, so they don't tangle.
A pendant is the piece that hangs from the chain. A necklace is the chain and pendant together. Ours are sold complete, with both.
Gold and materials
Yes, every necklace in this collection is solid 18k gold, both chain and pendant. Nothing is plated.
18 karat means 75 percent of the metal is pure gold. Pure gold is too soft to wear daily, so it's mixed with other metals to make it stronger.
Yes, we use cultured freshwater pearls. They're real pearls, grown under controlled conditions rather than found in the wild.
Care
Water won't damage gold, but a fine chain wears if it gets pulled. If the necklace has a pearl, it's better to take it off, since pearls are more sensitive to soap and water.
Hang it or lay it flat in a box rather than dropping it in a pile. Store pearl necklaces separately, since pearls scratch easily against other jewelry.
Lukewarm water and a few drops of washing-up liquid, then dry with a soft cloth. Just wipe pearls gently, without water or cleaning products.
